<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make parameter adjustment unnecessary one by one at the time when an equalizer circuit is mounted, etc., and realize reduction of manufacturing cost of a device total including the equalizer circuit. <P>SOLUTION: This invention automatically controls a frequency characteristic of the equalizer circuit which corrects magnitude deflection transmitted in a transmission path. A data extraction circuit 21 respectively extracts short period data S2 and long period data S3 out of high-speed data signal S1. The extracted data S2, S3 are differentiated by a differentiating circuits 22, 23, and respective peak values of the both differentiated outputs are held in peak holding circuit 24, 25. A voltage comparator 26 compares both outputs of the peak hold circuits 24, 25, creates control voltage according to the comparison result. and outputs.
