PURPOSE: A fuel cell having a gas-diffusion layer with excellent restoration is provided by forming the gas-diffusion layer using different cross-sectional sides carbon fiber such as X, Y, W, H, L types or stars or flower types. CONSTITUTION: The fuel cell(10) comprises plane type cell(50), separators(34,36) on both sides of the cell(50). The cell(50) consists of a solid polymer electrolyte film(20), a fuel electrode(22) and an air electrode(24) both called a catalyst electrode. The fuel electrode(22) and the air electrode(24) comprise laminations of catalyst layers(26,30) and gas-diffusion layers(28,32). Both of the catalyst layers(26,30) are arranged opposite each other through the solid polymer electrolyte film(20). A concave portion between projections serves to hold moisture in the gas-diffusion layer. |
