<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform printing in a specific color in large quantity in an image forming apparatus capable of performing a printing operation using toner in a cartridge positioned in a developing position by being selectively switched to the developing position among a plurality of cartridges having toner of the specific color. <P>SOLUTION: Prior to a printing operation, printing preparing operations are performed for all the developing cartridges attached to a developing unit 4 at one time, so that all the developing cartridges are ready to be printable. Even in the case that during the printing operation using one of the plurality of developing cartridges attached to the developing unit, the amount of toner remaining in the cartridge decreases and, as a result, a printing operation cannot be performed, the printing operation can be continued by immediately switching to the next cartridge. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
