<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development device in which the conveyance property of developer to an image carrier is stabilized, in the development device using traveling wave electric field accompanied by belt conveyance of the developer. <P>SOLUTION: In this development device, when the radius of the image carrier 1 is defined as r, the closest distance between the image carrier 1 and a developer conveyance member 41 is g<SB>0</SB>, the closest position of the image carrier 1 to the developer conveyance member 41 is x<SB>(0)</SB>, a developer conveyance starting position by the developer conveyance member 41 is x<SB>(1)</SB>, the distance from the closest position x<SB>(0)</SB>to the developer conveyance starting position x<SB>(1)</SB>is X and the distance between the image carrier 1 and the developer conveyance member 41 at the developer conveyance starting position x<SB>(1)</SB>is g<SB>x</SB>, where g<SB>x</SB>= ä g<SB>0</SB>+ r - (r<SP>2</SP>- X<SP>2</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>}, a formula (g<SB>x</SB>-g<SB>0</SB>)/g<SB>0</SB>< 2 is satisfied in the rate of change of development gap at the closest position x<SB>(0)</SB>of the image carrier 1 to the developer conveyance member 41 and at the developer conveyance starting position x<SB>(1)</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
