PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing utensil capable of removing dirt from a household electric washing machine with a reduced amount of detergent or with no detergent at all. SOLUTION: For preparing the stone for washing, 1-30 cm-diameter stones composed mainly of a magnesium-containing antigorite-base ore, an iron-containing talc-base ore, and a calcite-base ore are mixed, agitated and baked at 300-600°C for 20-40 minutes, crushed, and sieved, and their surfaces are ground for development into 0.5-3.0 cm-diameter crushed stones. The stone for washing is optimally applied when 30-200 grams of the same is accommodated in a string bag together with a buoyancy adjuster. When an electric washing machine is operated with the string bag and the object of washing therein, stains are removed from the object of washing, without the use of detergent or with but a small amount of detergent. The stone for washing may be repeatedly used under similar conditions. The environmental impact to be inflicted by wastewater is decreased when the amount of detergent is reduced.
