PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING WATER ABSORBING RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid sticking of polymerized materials to the inner wall of a pipe and the inside of an apparatus by rapidly and homogeneously mixing a monomer liquid and a polymerization initiator in the technique by which a water absorbing resin is manufactured by continuously mixing and polymerizing the monomer liquid and the polymerization initiator. SOLUTION: The manufacturing process for a water absorbing resin comprises (a) a process in which the monomer liquid 20 is continuously supplied to a feed pipe 10 and the monomer liquid 20 is continuously agitated with an agitator 12 in the feed pipe 10, (b) a process in which a mixed liquid 40 of the monomer liquid 20 and the polymerization initiator 30 is obtained by merging the polymerization initiator 30 into the flow of the monomer liquid 20 under agitation and (c) a process in which the mixed liquid 40 is continuously supplied through the feed pipe 10 to a polymerization apparatus to cause polymerization reaction.
