A urethane resin that is the reaction product of a reaction mixture comprising an isocyanate, at least one alcohol and a toughening agent. Preferred toughening agents are hydroxyl containing compounds, for example, a hydroxyl containing polycarbonate, a straight chained alcohol ethoxylate, a Guerbet-type branched alcohol, a polyethylene butylene monoalcohol or a mixture thereof.
