PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to open and close a lid body even in the midst of a drying process and to safely take clothes in and out in a drum type washing machine which successively controls the individual processes of washing, rinsing, spinning, drying, etc., inside a rotary drum. SOLUTION: A rotary drum 4 having a rotation center axis in an almost horizontal direction or an oblique direction is housed inside a water tub 3. The opening part of the water tub 3 for taking the clothes in and out of the rotary drum 4 is opened and closed by using the lid body 8, and air heated by a heater 12 is blown through a blowing route 15 into the rotary drum 4 by using a blowing fan 14. The blowing route 15 is constituted of a first blowing route 16 of sending hot air into the rotary drum 4 through the heater 12 and a second blowing route 17 of sending the air into the rotary drum 4 without interposing the heater 12. The air sent into the rotary drum 4 through the second blowing route 17 hits the lid body 8. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
