A toothing of a toothed wheel, consisting of tooth tips (3k) and tooth roots (3f) of teeth which are formed by second or higher order curves, wherein said curves point tangentially toward each other at their ends, and wherein at least the curves forming the tooth tips (3k) or at least the curves forming the tooth roots (3f) are not cycloids.
