<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage due to extraordinary heating of a hypoid gear without using specific lubricating oil for the hypoid gear in a four-wheel drive vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The four-wheel drive vehicle V is provided with a primary power transmitting pathway which transmits power from an engine E on front wheels Wf as a main driving wheel, and a secondary power transmitting pathway which transmits the power via at least two sets of the hypoid gears 15, 18 on rear wheels Wr as an auxiliary driving wheel by branching from the primary power transmitting pathway. It also controls tightening torque of a clutch 22 providing in position of the engine E side rather than the two sets of the hypoid gears 15, 18 so that frictional heat is less than predefined value in intermeshing tooth surface of the hypoid gears 15, 18. The frictional heat of the hypoid gears 15, 18 is presumed by means of the transmitting torque (t) and rotational frequency (n) of the hypoid gears 15, 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
