<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost medical guide wire having sufficient bending flexibility at a distal end portion of a guide wire, transmitting a rotating torque at a proximal end side well to the distal end side, good in operatability and inserting performance, and capable of being easily manufactured. <P>SOLUTION: The medical guide wire has a wire body 4 having a small diameter portion 4a at a distal end side and a large diameter portion 4b at a proximal end side having an outer diameter larger than that of the small diameter portion and a coil spring 12 fitted on the external periphery of the small diameter portion of the wire body along an axial direction and connected to the wire body at the proximal end and distal end.
