PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agitation apparatus for agitating and mixing high- viscosity fluids in high efficiency by producing a smoothly agitating flow in an agitating tank. SOLUTION: This agitation apparatus is constituted so that a rotary driving shaft 2 to which agitating blades (F1-F8) are fit is disposed in the agitating tank 1 in the longitudinal direction and rotated for agitating the materials thrown in the tank 1 while producing an axial flow together with a radial flow. The distance from the side wall of the tank 1 to the tip of each of the blades (F1-F8) is made longer than that from the bottom of the tank 1 to the tip of each of the blades (F1-F8) so that a convection flow can be produced on the outside of the axial flow between the side wall of the tank 1 and the tip of each of the blades (F1-F8).
