FIELD: manufacture of pointer-type instruments. SUBSTANCE: according to method images with readings of instrument on each tested mark is fed to input of artificial neuron network taught in advance to classification of images for images with readings of instrument which error is less than maximum permissible error of its class of accuracy and for images with readings which error is greater than maximum permissible error, images of indicator part of instrument are processed by artificial neuron network, outputs of artificial neuron network are analyzed and conclusion is made on serviceability of tested instrument. Device for implementation of method includes controlling and processing unit, former of calibrated signals, controlled unit for optical reading of indicator part of instrument and neurocomputer incorporating interface and processor intended to execute parallel computations.
