A sensor system (S, S'), comprises: at least one voltage generator (1, 11, 12, 13), for the conversion of non−electrical energy into electrical energy, at least one energy store (2), arranged in series after the voltage generator (1, 11, 12, 13), at least one voltage converter (3), connected to the energy store (2) such that the output signal therefrom is suitable for operating a process controller (4), at least one sensor (7, 71), at least one transmitter (5) for the wireless transmission of message telegrammes which may be generated by the process controller (4) and which contain at least one measured value from the at least one sensor (7, 71), characterised in that a timer circuit (6) is provided, which, depending on a voltage level of the at least one energy store (2) may be triggered and which activates the sensor system (S) to transmit at least one message telegramme after a given time delay.
