PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device in which brightness when observed from the approximately normal direction of a panel shifted from the surface reflection direction of the liquid crystal panel is improved and which enables a clear display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device includes a liquid crystal panel 10 having a pair of substrates 17 and 28, a liquid crystal layer 15, a reflecting layer 31 and a directivity forward scattering diffraction film 18. When the angle of incidence to the normal H of the film 18 of incident light L1 incident on the film 18 from a natural lighting side is defined as θ and the diffraction angle to the normal H of the film 18 of diffracted light L6 diffracted when the incident light L1 is transmitted through the film 18 is defined as α, the film 18 is configured so that the incident light L1 and the diffracted light L6 satisfy a relation of |α|<|θ|. |
