PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large ink jet recorder having high recording efficiency and accuracy, and its adjusting method. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder is provided with a plurality of head units 10 each comprising a recording head 6 carried on a carriage 1 and reciprocated in the widthwise direction of a recording medium in order to eject ink drops toward the recording medium, and a sub-tank 7 carried on the carriage together with the recording head such that the position can be adjusted and supplying ink to the recording head while being supplied with ink from a main tank 9. Since the difference of head between the ink level in the sub-tank and the nozzle forming face of the recording head can be adjusted, ink ejection from the nozzle can be made uniform even if each recording head can not be adjusted finely when the driving waveform of the ink jet recorder is standardized, for example, resulting in further enhancement of recording accuracy. |
