PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress the twist of a rack while smoothly moving a rack shaft for steering operation. SOLUTION: A rack supporting sheet 4 is fitted to the surface, abutting on the rack shaft 1, of a rack guide 3 which guides the movement of the rack shaft 1 while exerting a preload on an engagement area between a pinion 20 and rack teeth 10. Each of the rack supporting sheet 4 is provided with two abutment protrusions 40, 40 allocated with the axial center line of the rack shaft 1 held therebetween. These abutment protrusions 40, 40, etc., abut on the rack shaft 1 to support half portions of the rack shaft 1 at two points.
