PURPOSE: A beam index type cathode ray tube is provided to prevent interference between index signals by detecting effectively the index signals generated from a plurality of separative phosphor screens. CONSTITUTION: An external form of a cathode ray tube is formed with a tube(10). The tube(10) is used for forming and maintaining vacuum of the inside of the cathode ray tube. A panel(12) is used for a front glass of the tube(10). A funnel(14) is connected to a rear direction of the panel(12). A neck(16) is connected to the funnel(14). A phosphor screen portion is formed on an inner face of the panel(12). Index phosphors are arranged on an aluminium thin film. A plurality of electron gun portions(22) emit electron beams to the phosphor screen portion. The electron gun portions(22) are installed at the tube(10). A plurality of neck portions(16) are formed at the funnel(14). A deflection yoke(24) is installed at an outer circumference of the funnel(14). A plurality of optical detectors(28a,28b,28c,28d) are installed on the funnel(14) in order to transmit index signals of the index phosphors to an index circuit portion(26).
