Process for compressing and removing portions of thick to pasty product from a tube or container uses a scraping device consisting of a piston (13) and a piston rod (8) removably or irremovably connected to each other. The interior of the tube is made accessible by cutting off the end of the tube. The piston is inserted in the tube so that it is initially supported with a part of its periphery (11) on the beginning of the inner surface of a lower-lying section (2). The piston rod is then moved in the direction of the dispensing opening (16) so that the piston collects, compresses and transports the product (17) forward for as long as the air displaced from the interior of the tube escapes through the dispensing opening. When the compressed product starts to escape from the dispensing opening the process can be stopped or continued until a portion of the product has been removed. An Independent claim is also included for a scraping device used for carrying out the above process. Preferred Features: The piston and the piston rod are made of the same or different material, e.g. plastic, metal, glass, wood, etc.
