PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that although the advantages is that the finish cutting process by a non-rotary tool enables forming of a desired working shape having a smoothly worked surface in a work by advancing the non-rotary tool in the cutting direction at a fine depth of cut by the tool to such an extent of about a few microns or scores of microns, cuttings shaved off by the non-rotary tool are removed and pushed out by the tool, receiving a shearing force in the tool proceeding direction, when a soft material such as clay is used as a work at a depth of cut by a unit of scores of millimeters, and in this case, a cut resistance reaction is generated between the part which becomes cuttings of the work and a matrix in the part, but crosscut chippings occur obliquely in the terminal of the work because the part which receives the cut resistance reaction of the work is no longer present in the terminal, so that a working failure results. SOLUTION: When the soft material such as clay is used as the work, and is worked using the non-rotary tool, a shank 1 with a special center hollowed-out band-like cutting edge 2 is mounted on the main shaft of the tool of a working machine through a tool holder. Thus, the cut resistance reaction between the terminal of the work and the matrix is mitigated to avoid the crosscut chippings.
