<p>There is provided a meter-rate charging system and method through a network. When a request from meter-rate charging is received from a contents providing system or Internet cafe terminal together with the card number of a settlement card, it is judged if the card is available, and meter-rate charging for the card number when the card is available. When a request for completion of meter-rate charging is received from the contents providing system of Internet cafe terminal, meter-rate charging for the card number is finished, and a quantity charged and an amount of money to be settled based on the quantity of charging are calculated for the card number, to perform settlement for the card number. The settlement card is a charged card capable of being charged with a quantity corresponding to a predetermined amount of money if required.</p> |
