PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning exhaust gas containing a chlorine- containing compound in which the catalyst activity degradation is suppressed and the operation cost is reduced, because of compact equipment and a cleaning catalyst therefor capable of decomposing the exhaust gas containing the chlorine-containing compound or the organic compound efficiently for a long term. SOLUTION: The method comprises contacting the exhaust gas containing a chlorine-containing compound with a catalyst having Pt carried on a zeolite at 200-500 deg.C in the presence of 0.5-10% by volume of steam and oxidatively decomposing the chlorine-containing compound in the exhaust gas. |
