PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple structure and a method of fastening an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This structure and method of fastening an internal combustion engine fasten a cylinder block 1 and a crank cap 2. The cylinder block 1 comprises a vertical hole 3 penetrating the crank cap 2 to reach the inside of the cylinder block 1, a horizontal hole 4 formed so as to penetrate in a generally orthogonal direction to the vertical hole 3 formed on the cylinder block 1, a fastening member 6 disposed in the horizontal hole 4 and having a female thread part 6a inside thereof, and a bolt 5 inserted from the vertical hole 3 in the crank cap 2 and having a male thread part 5b screwed with the female thread part 6a of the fastening member 6.
