PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small lift device having a simplified structure and securing the safety of a passenger by forming a car in an opened space. SOLUTION: A chair 15 is fitted in the car 11 having no car door and an entrance in an opened state, the chair 15 is provided with a seating detecting means SW1 detecting the seating of a passenger 17, and the car 11 can be lifted or lowered when the seating detecting means SW1 detects the seating of the passenger 17.
