The apparatus to cut thin-walled cylinders (7) at a given angle (alpha ), as the propellant cartridge in ammunition for weapons with large diameter barrels, has a holder (11) which supports the cartridge cylinder (7). The holder (11) has a base unit (13) with an intermediate bolt (15) to secure a clamp (17) with clamping rings (20) at the other end. One end (24) of the cartridge cylinder (7) is supported at the base unit (13) and is centered by its laying surface. The other end (26) of the cartridge cylinder (7), to be cut, is clamped in place with a consistent radial pressure against it from the interior with support for the cutting action by the cutter (12), and also give round and accurate joint zones (9,10) after cutting.
