PURPOSE: An apparatus for reading a film is provided to enable the use thereof for many hours, to facilitate the carrying thereof, to use AC/DC power sources together, and to attain best clear picture quality anywhere in a screen. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for reading a film is comprised of a front case(112) formed with an opening on the front surface, a rear case(116) coupled with the front case, an aphotic display panel(120) disposed on the front side of the front case to reduce the fatigue of eyes, a light assembly(130) received in a space produced by the couple of the front case and the rear case to supply a light to the aphotic display panel, a power source, and a stand member(150). The light assembly consists of a cathode-ray tube typed lamp(132) for discharging a white light, a reflecting plate(134a,134b) for reflecting the light toward only one direction, a light guide plate(136), and a diffusion plate(138) for uniformly diffusing the light emitted to the front surface of the light guide plate. The light guide plate guides an incident ray of the reflecting plate toward the aphotic display panel, and disperses the incident ray to cause the uniform brightness on the aphotic display panel.
