A device for supporting the human body in the receumbent and/or sitting positon comprises a frame with a bearing surface that has at least a bearing surface part for supporting the trunk and a bearing surface part for supporting the lower part of the body, which bearing surface parts are mutually adjustable about a transversely running adjustment axis between a rest postion and an active position, and also comprising a supple supporting means, such as a mattress or a cushion and the like, extending over both bearing surface parts. The supporting means is connected to pulling means, for stretching said supporting means transversely to the adjustment axis of the bearing surface parts, in such a way that during the mutual adjustment of the bearing surface parts the supporting means is moved along at least one of the bearing surface parts in the direction facing away from the other bearing surface part. The advantage of a bed designed in this way is that during the raising of the foot end the clothing does not shift and the trunk is not exposed to pressure. |
