PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which hydrogen can efficiently be produced without depositing carbon on a catalyst and without inhibiting the production even when the steam reforming is carried out under conditions without introducing excessive steam (in a low ratio of S/C) by using a heavy hydrocarbon such as kerosene as a raw material. SOLUTION: This method for producing hydrogen comprises carrying out the steam reforming of a hydrocarbon in the presence of a trace amount of oxygen gas (O2) in 0.001-0.3 ratio O2/C (molar ratio) of the O2 to the carbon (C) derived from the hydrocarbon. |
