PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal supply apparatus for a die casting machine, capable of supplying a required quantity of molten metal into an injection sleeve of the die-casting machine even though the level of molten metal in a casting pot is lower than the position of an intake formed on a side wall of a molten metal supply pump. SOLUTION: A molten metal supply apparatus 1 for a die-casting machine comprises of a molten metal pot 2 filled with molten metal, a molten metal supply pump 3 arranged inside the molten metal pot 2, and a feeding pipe 20 leading a discharge outlet 18 of the molten metal supply pump 2 to an injection sleeve 50 of the die casting machine. The molten metal supply pump 3 provides a cylinder 11 having a suction inlet 14 on a peripheral wall and a piston 12 moving up and down inside the cylinder 11. A suction opening 16 connecting an inside of the cylinder 11 and an inside of the molten metal pot 3 is also arranged on a bottom wall 15 which is located lower than the position of the intake 14 in the cylinder 11. An opening and closing valve is arranged on the suction opening so as to control the opening and closing of the suction opening 16.
