PURPOSE: A disk drive enclosure optimized for mixed slim and half high drive size is not only advantageous to the user, but also lowers manufacturing cost since only one drive enclosure is required for non-hot plug, SCSI and Fibre Channel drive types. CONSTITUTION: A slim and half height disk drive is housed in an optional order. The enclosure includes 13 pairs of guide rails, and each rail pair includes rails(401a- 407a) and(401b-401b) on a side panel. 12 slots between the guide rails are defined into plural groups composed of 6 continuous slots(S1-S6). Each group has 4 connectors(410-413) on a backside panel, and these connectors are disposed in first, third, fourth and fifth slots. In second and sixth slots, stop tabs(408, 409) are disposed near the front edge part of the side panel, and the insertion of the drive into the rail is prevented.
