PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of bias filling of document with a simple means in an automatic paper feeding device with the structure that paper feeding rollers and separating rollers are provided at positions in one side of the device. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device is provided with a pivotal rotary document stopper 42 to be appeared and disappeared from/under a document traveling surface 56. During the carrying of the highest-positioned document, a friction member provided in a tip of a first arm 44 of this document stopper 42 appears onto the document traveling surface 56 so as to prevent the bias filling of the waiting documents including a following document. When delivery of the following document starts, the friction member disappears under the document traveling surface 56 so as to allow the delivery of the following document.
