PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably keep the toner holding performance even under high temperature and high humidity environment by forming potential difference between an image processing member coming in contact with an image, carried in a recording material and a contact member coming in contact with the recording material in the vicinity of the contact part of the image processing member and the recording material. SOLUTION: In a fixing device, high voltage is applied to a conductive primer layer 24 of a fixing film with a high voltage power source, an earthed electrode 105 acting as a contact member is arranged so as to come in contact with the back surface of a surface where unfixing toner image of a recording material P is carried, and resistance Rg from a contact point with the recording material P to earthing is set. A high voltage apply means is installed so that the relation of the potential V1 of the fixing film to the potential V2 of the earthed electrode 105 becomes V1<V2, for example, and by applying voltage to the fixing film, current flows from the conductive primer layer 24 of the fixing film through a surface mold releasing layer 25, the recording material P, and the earthed electrode 105, and voltage based on voltage drop is generated at the opposite ends of each resistance.
