PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signature checking device and method capable of increasing a third person exclusion ratio without decreasing a person passage ratio and to provide a program storage medium capable of realizing the function therefor in a computer. SOLUTION: The handwriting data of an inputted signature are compared with the handwriting data of a reference signature so that a difference D1 can be obtained, and the authenticity of the input signature can be judged based on the difference D1. The handwriting information of the input signature whose authenticity is judged is compared with the handwriting information of N pieces of input signatures stored in an input signature history storing part 22 so that a difference D2 can be obtained, and the authenticity of the input signature can be judged based on the difference D2, and the handwriting information of the input signature whose authority is judged is registered in an input signature history storing part 22.
