PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the construction cost of a level gauge by reducing the labor required for the installation and maintenance of the gauge even when a detecting section set up in a liquid has a long length, by constituting the detecting section of a plurality of detecting units which are detachably connected to each other in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: A magnet float 2 is constituted in a cylindrical member having a central through hole, is set afloat on the surface of a liquid contained in a tank T while a detecting section 3 is passed through the through hole, and vertically moves along the detecting section 3 following the fluctuation of the surface level L of the liquid. The detecting section 3 is constituted in a bar-like shape having an outside diameter smaller than the inside diameter of the through hole of the float 2 so as to guide the movement of the float 2, thrown in the liquid, and set up perpendicularly to the surface of the liquid. In addition, the detecting section 3 is constituted of a plurality of detecting units 6 which are detachably connected to each other in the longitudinal direction. The detecting units 6 are composed of, for example, three kinds of units UN1, UN2, and UN3 and connected in series in the longitudinal direction.
