摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a device by calculating processing time necessary for decoding an image stored in a compressed bit stream and storage capacity necessary for storing the image until the storage is not required for a decoder any longer. SOLUTION: At scheduled time for starting the decoding of an individual image of input data encoded in a bit stream by using a decoder 303, a video complexity verifier(VCV) 302 determines the complexity of an image to be decoded in relation with the number of micro-blocks. The number of micro- blocks is stored in a queue of the VCV 302 in order to process it. Then the VCV 302 processes these micro-blocks at a prescribed maximum rate per unit time of a micro-block. Thus the decoder 303 calculates the completion time of image decoding. Consequently time necessary for the completion of decoding of an image just presented in a queue can be obtained by a simple equation for dividing queue size by a processing speed.</p>
