PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the removable nonvolatile memory which can inhibit its internally recorded digital information from being used by illegal copying, the digital information recording device and digital information reproducing device which use it, and the digital information recording and reproduction system which is equipped with them. SOLUTION: In the nonvolatile memory 0, a rewritable area 1b and an unrewritable area 1a are formed, and ID information characteristic of the nonvolatile memory 0 is previously stored in the unwritable area 1a. A digital information recording device 10 ciphers digital information according to the ID information in the unwritable area 1a and then records it in the rewritable area 1b. A digital information reproducing device 20 deciphers the digital information in the writable area 1b according to the ID information in the unwritable area 1a and reproduces it.
