The invention relates to a device for actuating a gas cycle valve for internal combustion engines, which device comprises at least one compensation element which is positioned in the power flow of an actuating element acting on the charge cycle valve and presents a pressure chamber which is formed by a piston and a working cylinder and via a one-way valve is connected to a reservoir chamber. The device also comprises a throttle area via which a pressure medium is able to flow out of the pressure chamber during the working cycles. The invention provides for the pressure chamber to be sealed off to the outside and for the compensation element to have a high-pressure valve from which the pressure medium flows in a throttled manner during the working cycles of the gas cycle valve. To this end the high-pressure valve opens cyclically when a defined force is exerted on the compensation element and closes when a defined force which is greater than a mean force and slightly lower than or equal to a maximum force is exerted on said compensation element.
