The pattern has N visually identifiable patterns made up of image elements separated by pixel elements. The image elements have microscopically fine relief structures (6) whose optical effectivity is determined by a reflection layer (3) on the relief structures. The image elements are embedded in a plastic laminate (4). Each image element has one of M different relief structures. The M different relief structures differ in at least one of the grating parameters. The image elements with relief structures of the same grating parameters are arranged in parallel strips (7,8,9). Preferably the number M of different relief structures is greater than or equal to the number N of visually identifiable patterns. These can be seen next to each other by rotation about and axis Z perpendicular to the plane of a parity mark or by tipping about an axis perpendicular to that axis (Z). |
