<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a driving feel by achieving vehicle behavior that more closely matches the sense of the driver during inter-vehicular control that under normal control, the inter-vehicular control being executed under a situation in which the vehicle driver approaches the preceding vehicle through his own operation. SOLUTION: A situation in which a vehicle equipped with this device moves into a traffic line on which a preceding vehicle runs at 100 Km/h is assumed (see 2B). By temporarily shortening the target distance between the vehicles immediately after the vehicle has moved into the traffic line, acceleration control can be executed (see 2C). Naturally, when the preceding vehicle runs 100 Km/h, the actual distance between the vehicles increases even if the vehicle equipped with the device is accelerated from 80 Km/h. Thus, by gradually restoring the target distance between the vehicles, the vehicle can avoid a temporary delay from the preceding vehicle as shown in (2D), and proper control matching traffic flow can be executed; i.e., vehicle behavior matching the sense of the driver is achieved and the driving feel can be enhanced.</p> |
