PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend optionally a video recording time only with an operation of a video recording button in the case of recording a moving picture with divisions for each prescribed video recording time and to display an operating state at the recording of a moving picture in an easily recognized way. SOLUTION: A camera signal processing section 24 processes a photographed imaging signal for 5 seconds after the depression of a shutter of an operation input section 34, and an encoder/decoder 31 applies moving picture experts group MPEG compression to a digital image signal from the signal processing section 24 and a DRAM 29 writes the compressed image data under the control of a memory controller 25. When the shutter is depressed before the lapse of 5 sec, extension of video recording is reserved and an LC panel 11 displays an object and indication of extension of video recording reservation. When a finger is detached from the shutter before the lapse of 5 sec, the panel 11 displays a usual video recording. When the shutter is depressed after the lapse of 5 sec, the video recording is extended till the finger is detached from the shutter and the panel 11 displays a state of extending video recording.
