PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in flame retardancy, mechanical properties, molding processability and thermal residence stability by compounding a thermoplastic polyester resin with each specified amount of a specific phosphinic acid salt and a nitrogen-contg. organic matter. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by compounding 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic polyester resin (pref. polybutylene terephthalate resin 0.5-1.3 dL/g in intrinsic viscosity) with 5-40 (pref. 7-35) pts.wt. of a phosphinic acid salt of formula I (R1 and R2 are each a 1-6C alkyl or phenyl; M is Ca or Al ion; (m) is 2 or 3) (e.g. 1,2-ethylmethylphosphinic aluminum salt) and/or a diphosphinic acid salt of formula II (R3 is a 1-10C alkylene, arylene or the like; (x) is 1 or 2; (n) is 1 or 3) (e.g. 1,3-ethane-1,2-bismethylphosphinic calcium salt) and/or a polymer thereof, and 1-35 (pref. 3-25) pts.wt. of a nitrogen-contg. organic matter (pref. melamine formaldehyde condensate). |
