PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal which realizes low power consumption at the time of infrared communication in a portable information terminal equipped with an infrared communication function. SOLUTION: A user freely sets radiant intensity of infrared light in accordance with the communication distance between terminals according to an operation menu that is offered by a radiant intensity setting means 16. Also, this device automatically measures the distance between terminals through an intra-terminal distance detecting means 31 which detects the distance between terminals, selects optimum infrared intensity in accordance with the communication distance and performs communication. Also, a communication protocol control means performs communication in the maximum radiant intensity when the communication starts, gradually weakens the radiant intensity, seeks the optimum radiant intensity in which a communication error does not occur and performs communication. |
