<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a sound volume not visually but audibly and easily by an adjusting dial attached to a pointing device. SOLUTION: A pointing device is provided with an adjusting dial and a rotational amount measuring sensor. The sum of a present sound volume obtained by a sound device driver and the measured value of the rotational amount measuring sensor communicated from the pointing device driver is calculated by mixer software so that a new sound volume is obtained (43). The mixer software sets the new sound volume so as to fall between the previously decided maximum sound volume value and minimum sound volume value, and communicates it to a sound device driver (44)-(48). The sound device driver sets the sound volume of a sound device to the communicated sound volume.</p> |
