The base has a number of vertical, shaped anchoring flanges (2) which fit into grooves or notches in the lower section of the pole. The wider end of the flange (2a) is fixed to the base plate (3) and the narrower end is inserted into the groove. The flat lower end of the flange (2c) is attached to the base plate and the upper edge (2d) is parallel to it. The inner edge (2e) of the flange is straight or may be notched. The flanges have openings (2f) into which pins are inserted. The poles can have pre-drilled holes in them for the insertion of pins. The pins pass through two of the flanges and the pole.
