PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain escaping of water of electrolyte in the form of vapor through a jar of a storage battery by using polyphenylene ether material whose water vapor transmission coefficient is small as the material of jar, and using a material excellent in its bonding characteristic as the marial of a cover. SOLUTION: As a material of jar, polyphenylene ether(PPE) resin of a small water vapor transmission quantity whose water vapor transmission coefficient is 2.0g.mm/mm<2> .day.mmHg or less is used. As the material of a cover, ABS resin whose vapor transmission coefficient is relatively large is used in order to prevent decrease in the bonding strength of a terminal part. An adhesive is thickly applied to front and the rear surface of the cover to decrease the water vapor transmission from the cover. Accordingly, water of electrolyte escaping to the outside in the form of vapor from a jar and the cover can be reduced, thereby extending the service life. |
