PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire which emits a reduced booming sound in the 40Hz range without causing increase of the road noise in the range 80-160Hz. SOLUTION: At a certain spacing in the tire cirpumferential direction, a plurality of ridges 8 stretching in the tread direction from near the rim check line L are formed on the outer surface of the side part formed from a side wall part 2 and bead part 3. Therein the height H of the ridge 8 from the bead base of the tread lateral end is conditioned as H>=0.45 Hs, where Hs is the height of the tire cross-section, and the angleθto the radial direction is ranged between 0-60deg., and the ratio S/A is ranged between 0.05-0.15 where S is the total outside area of all ridges 8 and A is the outside area of the side part.
