PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the difference in loss dependent upon the polarization direction of light while suppressing reflected return light by orthogonally intersecting the tilt direction at the end face of a first optical fiber and the tilt direction at the end face of a second optical fiber with each other. SOLUTION: The end face 1a of the optical fiber 1 has the tilt angle θ with the plane perpendicular to an optical axis c1. A first lens 2, such as collimating lens, disposed on the optical axis c1 converts the light emitted from the end face 1a of the optical fiber 1 to parallel light. Further, the parallel light made incident from the direction D2 on the optical axis c1 is condensed to the center of the end face 1a of the optical fiber 1. The second lens 3, such as corrimating lens condenses the parallel light made incident from the direction D1 on the optical axis c1 to the center of the end face 4a of the optical fiber 4. The light is emitted from the optical fiber 4 and the light propagating to the direction D2 is converted to the parallel light. In such a case, the end face 4a of the optical fiber 4 has a prescribed tilt angle θ with the plane perpendicular to the optical axis c1 and the relative angle of the optical fibers 1, 4 is set at 90 deg.. |
