The brake system consists of two functional units which are independent of each other. One unit comprises carriers for the braking elements which absorb braking counter forces in the rotational direction, and a brake caliper(10) which by means of hand force and force transmission means applies a pressure force on the brake element carriers. The caliper has a force amplification mechanism by means of which the transmitted manual force is amplified on the pressure arms(11.1). This force is not borne by the frame of the vehicle but counterbalanced in the caliper.
