PURPOSE: To provide a new compound capable of forming an asymmetric synthesis reaction catalyst having excellent stereoselectivity or site selectivity, conversion and catalytic activity by coordinating to various kinds of transition metals. CONSTITUTION: This tertiary phosphine compound is expressed by formula I (A<1> is phenyl which may have substituents such as a halogen and a lower alkyl), e.g. (S)-3-diphenylphosphino-4,4'-biphenanthryl. The compound can be produced e.g. by reacting 3,3'-dihydroxy-4,4'-biphenanthryl with anhydrous trifluoromethanesulfonic acid in the presence of a base at -10 to +100 deg.C, hydrogenating the reaction product in the presence of a Pd/C catalyst, reacting the hydrogenated product with anhydrous trifluoromethanesulfonic acid in the presence of a base, reacting the resultant compound of formula II with a diarylphosphine oxide of formula III in the presence of a base and a Pd- phosphine catalyst and reducing the produced 3-arylphosphinyl-4,4'-biphenanthryl with HSiCl3 , etc. |
