PURPOSE: To provide a translation supporting system useful for a user to understand the meaning of an original sentence by corresponding to the phrase or the paragraph of a source language and that translated into a target language with each other to output. CONSTITUTION: A translation module 5A is composed of a dictionary consulting and morpheme analyzing means 5a, a syntax analytic means 5b, a syntax conversion means 5c, an equivalent selection means 5d and a target language generation means 5e. Then the syntax analytic means 5b, the syntax conversion means 5c and the target language generation means 5e are designed to be especially proper to output a translation not by the unit of the sentence but the unit of the phrase and the paragraph. Syntax structure is analyzed from plural single words constituting one sentence or a part of it in the source language, based on the analytic result a phrase or a paragraph in the source language which consists of not less than one single word which is grammatically coherent is translated into a phrase of a paragraph in the target language, and the phrase or the paragraph in the source language and that translated into the target language are corresponded to each other and outputted. |
